abstract

background: organic agricultural pesticides are so stable in ecosystems and biosphere. these compounds affect soil conditions and agricultural products. the aim of this study was isolation of diazinon-degrading bacteria from kerman pistachio orchards, southeastern iran. methods: diazinon-degrading bacteria were enriched in bushnell-hass medium. identification and sequencing of prevalent degrading strains was performed using pcr based on amplifying of 16s rdna. results: the soil of pistachio orchard has some degrading bacteria that are suitable for elimination of diazinon from soil and environment. three diazinon-degrading bacteria strains belong to: pseudomonas putida strain d3, p. fluorescens strain d1 and achromobacter piechaudii strain d8. the best degrading strain (d1), up to 100 ppm, illustrated a good growth, whereas more than this concentration, the growth was reduced. the results of gas-chromatography (gc) confirmed the decomposition of organic pesticide by degrading-bacteria. conclusion: the results of gas-chromatography (gc) confirmed the decomposition of organic pesticide by degrading-bacteria. using these strains and other biological reclamation methods we can eliminate bio-environmental problems.

Isolation and characterization of diesel-degrading Pseudomonas strains from diesel-contaminated soils in Iran (Fars province)

In this study, among the 21 diesel-degrading bacteria that were isolated from an oil-polluted area in Fars (Iran), 6 bacterial strains were tested for their capability to metabolize and grow on diesel oil by degrading its hydrocarbons content. The biochemical characteristics and 16S rRNA sequence analysis of diesel-degrading bacteria showed that these strains were related to the genus Pseudomon...

Isolation and characterization of phenol degrading bacteria from Persian Gulf

Phenol and phenol compounds are environmental pollutants present in industrial wastewaters such as, coal tar, oil refineries and petrochemical plants exist. Phenol removal from industrial effluent is extremely important in protection of environment. Recently phenol biodegradation has been considered. Marine bacteria are the most important phenol biodegrader. In this study, the phenol-degrading ...

Isolation and Characterization of Phenanthrene Degrading Bacteria from Diesel Fuel-Contaminated Antarctic Soils

Antarctica is an attractive target for human exploration and scientific investigation, however the negative effects of human activity on this continent are long lasting and can have serious consequences on the native ecosystem. Various areas of Antarctica have been contaminated with diesel fuel, which contains harmful compounds such as heavy metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). Bi...
